Senior Depression
Filed Under Health | Leave a Comment
While most people think that depression is a sign of a weak personality, recent findings show that it is more of an illness and as an impulse coming from the brain as it changes chemistry. Most patients of depression are young adults but one in five people aged over 65 years old are experiencing this problem as well.
Seniors experience this especially when they are facing serious illness and those that make them immobile. Being in the nursing home and keeping them away from their families are also major factors. Many people still think that depression is a psychological problem and that is one reason why they are ashamed to admit that they are undergoing the state of depression.
Do not be afraid to admit that you are depressed. Seek help and try to live your life in the same way that you have been for the past years.

Filed Under Insurance | Leave a Comment
Most people do not know that they are allergic to drugs only to find out too late that they really are. There are certain medicines that can trigger allergic reactions in some people. When the drug is taken in, the immune system mistakenly responds by releasing anti-bodies to combat the drug which it deemed is a disease. When this happens, the antibodies will release histamine to try to expel the drug away from the body.
During an allergic reaction, patients may experience skin rash, hives, itchy skin, congestion and swelling in the throat or mouth. More severe reactions to histamines include difficulty in breathing, dizziness, confusion, nausea, rapid pulse, diarrhea and abdominal problems.
If you notice this after taking in medications, it is best that you consult your physician right away. It is also good to know which medications cause allergic reactions so that you can avoid it.

Once you come of age, you will always notice that the back hurts more than usual. Most of mild back pains are results of injured ligaments or joint in the spine which makes the muscles contract and emit painful spasms.
To handle this, after 48 hours when the back started to hurt, apply cold pack to the affected area for about 5 – 10 minutes at a time. If the pain lasts for more than 48 hours try putting a hot pack or a hot shower to relieve your symptoms. Sleep on a firm mattress flat on your back with a pillow under your knees. Wear comfortable and low heeled shoes.
To prevent back pain, always exercise and prevent excessive weight gain. Stretch your muscles always and maintain good posture as much as possible.
If the pain persists, then it is about time that you go and consult your trusted physician.
