Avoiding Internet Fraud
Filed Under Internet Browsing, Making Money, Technology
The Internet has a couple of drawbacks which generally originate from people who use it as a tool to fool others. There are different types of Internet fraud and most of the time, people get fooled by phishers. The basic idea of phishing is by waiting for a user to input usernames, passwords or even credit card information and use it without the owner’s knowledge.
Most phisher websites and emails imitate the real website and ask for sensitive information. How do we detect these kinds of websites? Basically, each website that requires sensitive information has a secure logo. The web browser itself detects this. Most of today’s browsers are equipped with tools that detect Internet fraud. The important thing is to get to know the website that you are always accessing and make sure that you carefully type the Uniform Resource Locator (URL, eg. www.google.com) in the address bar because some phisher sites just tamper with the spelling and just imitates the real site.
