As we age, it becomes very difficult to take proper care of the teeth. Especially for senior citizens who have arthritis.

Here are some suggestions to prevent tooth decay as you get older into the senior years.

1. If you are having problems holding your tooth brush, make it thinker by wrapping tape around it.

2. To make your toothbrush handle a little bit longer, tape an extender around the end of the handle. You can try an ice cream stick for example.

3. Use a battery powered toothbrush.

4. There are different aids available in the drug store that can help you clean your teeth properly. Products can make flossing a lot easier for you.

5. Brush your gums, tongue and the roof of your mouth with toothpaste everyday before you put your dentures on.
