Feel-Good Things about being Old

The ticking of the clock seems like a walking turtle for an excited hag like me. It just a few minutes, it will strike 12 and I enthusiastically count every second and wait for the clock’s bell to sing beautifully – for at this moment, I will turn 70. Yes, I am excited to turn 70, happy and proud. Unlike the other hags out there who complain having a wrinkle on their forehead, I am grateful to have such a face – a sign that I am a certified aged woman. This is absolutely not because I am excited to die (God knows how much I want to live). It’s is mainly because I have achievements that usually an old hag like me only has.

I have established a great family. I have a loving spouse, successful and married son and daughter, and lively grandchildren. Really, what does a warm mother and grandmother like me can ever wish for. It is already an immense fulfillment for me just by having them.

I have seen a lot. It may no longer astound you, knowing that I am about to turn 70, so it is no longer a surprise to say that I was born on 1937. Though I wasn’t mature at that time, I have seen the devastation and the terror of World War II, the assassination of John F. Kennedy, and other historical occurrences that can never be forgotten. Aside from these monumental events, I have a fair share of personal moments that I will always remember, making me a better person.

I am being taken care of. Let’s face it, it feels good to be the one who is being pampered. You can feel the warmth of love and gentleness of concern when they take care of you. And since I am old, making several movements can already tire me out, so it’s my offspring and grandchildren who do the things that comfort me.
