Memories of the Yesteryears

The taste of the champagne in the crystal goblet…. the tingling sensation when the band starts to play…. the twirls of the skirts and the groove of the pants…. It’s really fun to recall the memories of our time. I am certain that people in my age would agree, that such reminiscence revives old moments we shared with our cliques. But those times have long been passed and now that we are old and gray, we can only think of what it felt like back then…..
-
Looks. Shoulder pads, knee-length plaid skirts, gloves, stylish, round hats, medium-sized purses. Smoky make-up, rolled bangs, shoulder-length curls, suits and pointed hats for men – imagine this style in your head and you will get the ultimate 40’s look. That was the time when your look should spell “stylish and glamorous,” otherwise you’d be out in the party crowd.

Music. Sweet and groovy music were popularly played in the radio and in the party clubs. These had the melodies that can set the lovers more head over heels with each other while they dance sweetly, their arms holding closely against each other. Furthermore, there were groovy tunes that can set friends and pals into dancing and strutting their best moves in the crowd.

Swing. Anyone on my age wouldn’t forget the fun of ballroom dancing (I guess that’s why it’s continuously introduced by the seniors…. and even the younger ones enjoy dancing it). Since 40’s was mentioned just while ago, this era had the trend for swing. Though it wasn’t established in the 40’s, the melody of the songs on that time was best suited with as groovy as the moves of Swing.
