Power Cycle
Most high-speed Internet home users often call their technical support when their Internet goes haywire without even doing anything. Restarting the computer will barely help. One good thing to do before calling the support team is to power cycle the modem which is connected to the computer. It is done by simply unplugging the cord that comes from the wall-jack to the modem and turning the modem off for about one full minute. After turning it back on, check the Internet light of the modem because it usually indicates if it has a connection.
Almost all Internet problems get fixed by simply power cycling the modem. The idea is to restart or refresh the modem’s connection. It is good to this step first so that when you call the support group, you wouldn’t have to go over these step and they can proceed with the next appropriate troubleshooting step.
