The other day, my senior citizen neighbors were talking loudly outside. I couldn’t help but hear the things that they are saying. In absolutely no time at all, I found myself talking to them as well.
It all started when a sales agent from an Internet/TV provider came to their house to upsell new technology. The terms looked pretty good and they signed for the service after everything was installed. The following day, a contractor came to their place and said that the technology and wirings that they had was pretty odd and that he does not have the right equipment to install the service. So, the guy left. No signed agreement and no paperwork signed. He said he will be back on the next day but nobody came.
They called the provider to ask what happened. They apologized and said that someone will arrive. Nobody came. No call was made. So basically, the service was not installed. Apparently, the tech called in to their main office to say that everything was intalled. The company is then saying that if they (seniors) do not want the service, they should just return the modem. What is to return? It was not installed in the first place.
This went on for over a month. It wasted a lot of time and energy and they were even accused of being a liar. The agents kept insisting that the modem was installed. They switched to a different provider out of sheer frustration and dismay. A bill from the last provider suddenly came. They contested the bill and up to this point, they are still waiting for the refund.
What is up with this people? Senior citizens have the right to be treated fairly. They said that a lawsuit will soon follow if the refund does not get to them in due time.
